News

The Fresh Faces of the IBM i Take a look at this issue of IBM Systems Magazine. It’s one of the most inspiring to date because it profiles IBM’s Fresh Faces and the innovation that is taking place in the IBM i community. “Machine learning, migration and modernization” are all part of the plan. Are you protected? Six steps to back up your data Pete Massiello, of iTech Solutions, writes in a special edition of his newsletter about the importance of data protection.

Career

Remote workers are outperforming office workers Remote work is a hot topic. It’s scary for employers but it does not have to be if you understand the facts. “It should not matter where people are getting the work done — as long as they are focused and working hard each day.” As a result, we see remote work options becoming more and more common in the IBM i community. Never try to outrun this “We run from those things that threaten us most when what we should be doing is drawing ourselves closer to them. The fear is rarely “out there” and almost always “in here.” While you can run from the external threats, you can never run from the ones inside yourself and your organization.” It’s time for a change in mindset.

Development

Python enters the TIOBE Index for the first time You might ask, what is the TIOBE Index? It is a measure of the popularity of programming languages produced by the TIOBE Company in the Netherlands. Python is easy to learn, install and deploy. It is likely the IBM i community will be talking about this more and more in the future.
