IBM and Verizon team up to help Enterprises Adobt Edge Technologies
“Verizon teamed up with IBM on a broad initiative to modernize its network. As part of the effort, Verizon is building key components of its 5G infrastructure using Red Hat software.”
“Edge computing is a distributed computing framework that brings enterprise applications closer to data sources such as IoT devices or local edge servers. This proximity to data at its source can deliver strong business benefits, including faster insights, improved response times and better bandwidth availability.”
“The IBM unit detailed an internal project in which its engineers used MachineSets, a feature of its OpenShift platform.” This is designed to ensure the reliability of the edge computing environment.
AT&T and IBM partner to Drive innovation using AI
Like Verizon and IBM, AT&T and IBM have also been “co-innovating and helping enterprise clients transform for more than 20 years. Most recently, the two companies announced plans to show the digital transformation potential of 5G wireless networking and edge computing.”

April Fools, Or Not: IBM Raises Power Systems Prices
Supply chain issues and parts shortages are causing a bump in pricing for a number of IBM product lines. The new Power10-based entry and mid-range server announcements from IBM as well.
“The price increase for selected Power Systems servers and their CPUs, memory, and peripherals was announced on February 25 and takes effect on April Fool’s Day, which of course is April 1.”
